Floorgard Corry Board comes in several thickness options. All tough and impact-resistant, but one might be a better fit than the other. This quick run-through will help you find which aligns best with your project needs.
Floorgard Corry Board Thickness Levels
All thicknesses can take foot traffic, even the thinner sheets. No worries there. What changes is the ‘buffer’ you get for each option. Starting with:
2mm to 3mm
Floorgard Corry Board’s 2mm to 3mm boards are the standard, with the smallest gap available between the floor and the work above. They may be on the slimmer side, but you can trust them to handle minor impacts, thanks to the corrugated twin-wall structure.
Besides light knocks from dropped hand tools or foot traffic, these thickness levels also shield floors from build-up dust and dirt, and scratches caused by things being moved around above. Even liquids like water, paint splashes, or plaster drips have no chance of soaking through and touching the surface underneath.
This makes them good enough for most light renovation and finishing jobs, such as:
- Painting and decorating
- Snagging and touch-up jobs
- Putting up plasterboard or doing minor drylining
- Floor protection during kitchen or bathroom fitting
- Taking up old carpet or flooring without leaving a mess
- Installing built-in units or joinery
- Running new electrics or light fittings
- Pre-handover cleaning and prep
4mm to 6mm
These are a step up from the standard. The ribbed patterns in the twin-walled structure are spaced further apart, giving the board a larger gap for better cushioning effect. They’re perfect for entryways with frequent foot traffic or areas where heavier tools and equipment always on the move.
You’ll also find them useful for:
- Protecting floors during joinery or cabinet installs
- Areas where trolleys, ladders, or steps are being used
- Spots where power tools or heavier kit are in use
- Around fixed units or gear to stop scuffs and scrapes
- Walkways during the busier stages of a fit-out
10mm
The thickest option available is 10mm. This level is what you need if the job is likely to be demanding all around. It cushions heavier hits better and lasts longer with proper care (though all thicknesses are suitable for long-term use).
What’s worth pointing out is that it stays light, approximately 1.04kg, and measures 2.4m x 1.2m—this also applies to all. The same easy handling you’d expect, even with the extra thickness!
It’s best used for long-running projects where floors need protecting for weeks or months. For instance:
- Main walkways with heavy foot traffic and gear being moved about
- Lift lobbies and entrance areas in blocks or commercial sites
- Jobs with high-spec floors that need covering through to handover
- Refurb sites with multiple trades working in the same area
- Indoor areas with sack trucks, trollies, or heavier tools getting shifted around
- Under towers, podiums, or mobile steps used across multiple rooms
- Busy refurb work in domestic buildings and offices that need to stay open
