How to Recycle Your Floorgard Corry Board with the Blue Cycle Scheme

Stack your Floorgard Corry Board flat and neatly, and keep it separate from other waste. Our team will coordinate with your site contact or foreman to handle the collection. You’ll then receive a recycling certificate from our Blue Cycle Recycling Scheme.

Among the many great features of Floorgard Corry Board is its sustainability, specifically its recyclability at the end of its life. What makes it even better is it’s included in our Blue Cycle Recycling Scheme, a program that takes care of the process on your behalf.

If you’ve recently purchased this or are planning to, here’s what you need to know to take advantage of the service.

What Makes Floorgard Corry Board Sustainable

Floorgard Corry Board is made from corrugated twin-wall polypropylene (PP), a fully recyclable plastic that’s widely accepted in industrial recycling facilities.

On top of this, this temporary floor protection is strong, lightweight, and impact-resistant, so it can be reused multiple times. Once it’s reached the end of its use, it can be collected through our Blue Cycle Recycling Scheme.

The Blue Cycle Recycling Scheme

It’s a collection and recycling service for used plastic materials on construction sites. We handle logistics, so you don’t have to chase down a facility or manage the process yourself.

The Blue Cycle is introduced as part of SP Group’s wider push to make sustainable choices easier across the trade. But there’s more: £2/€2 from every order above £2000/€2000 will be donated to WWF UK through Work For Good. We’ve partnered with them to ensure that every order gives back to environmental organisations.

Purchase the product and talk to your Account Manager to add the service to your order.

The collection charge will depend on volume and location.

What You Need to Do Before Collection

Steps to prepare Floorgard Corry Board for pickup:

Stack them flat and neat

Use pallets (minimum of two) or tie the sheets in secure bundles about 1200 mm high. You can also use tonne bags if needed to make sure they’re stable and ready to lift.

Don’t mix with other waste

Don’t include timber, rubble, or general site waste. Only Floorgard sheets cover the Blue Cycle scheme—unless you also purchased other products from us that are 100% recyclable.

How to Arrange a Collection

  • Contact us by phone or email
  • Let us know how many boards you’re returning and what condition they’re in
  • Our team will confirm your collection date and time

We’ll coordinate with your site contact or foreman and handle the collection. To minimise environmental impact, we recommend collecting the maximum volume at once, usually at the end of the project.

What Happens After

Once collected, it’s sent to our recycling facility to sort the PP sheets, clean (if needed), and process. The plastic is then reused to make new construction products or packaging.

You’ll receive a recycling certificate showing the year you or your company took part in the scheme. This entire process helps keep plastic out of landfills and feeds it back into the supply chain.

You can save 20-40% of your carbon footprint on average, depending on your used materials. That’s a great start in cutting down on waste!

When Should You Use Fire-Retardant (FR) Floor Protection
If there’s anything on site that generates heat, the risk is there. The stakes are even higher if you’re working in offices, retail spaces, and housing—especially if it’s part of the method statement or a requirement from insurers.
